Charlie's House Day — Twenty Years
Today marks 20 years.
Feb 19, 2006.
Twenty years ago, on this day, we had just finished building what we now call Charlie’s House — the Home of SuperGaming.
And the night before the housewarming… we were still fixing staircase glass.
The staircases all had different panels. Nothing fit perfectly. We had no proper tools. We stayed up the entire night. By morning our hands were cut by glass.
We got it done just in time.
And if you walk into Charlie’s House today and look around — every corner, every staircase, every detail — remember this:
Everything you see here was crafted by hand.
Now for some of you who joined recently…
June is the story of three guys, a dog, and a dream.
Charlie’s House is named after a founder. Charlie was our Labrador.
No matter how stressful things got — building games in the early iPhone days, figuring out multiplayer, surviving platform shifts — there was one constant.
Charlie would sit at the door every morning.
Waiting. Tail wagging.
Just happy you showed up.
And we learned something from that.
No matter how crazy life gets…
Be constant.
Be there for other people.
Be the person your dog thinks you are.
I’ll talk about the Journey because that is important in what I have learned all these years
- When we started, it was insanity.
- We started the company on credit card debt.
- We rented out parts of our office to pay salaries.
Then we were defined by perception.
We believed that if we just got into the right accelerator, everything would magically solve itself.
We were naïve.
- What will people think?
- Will YC solve everything?
- Will someone validate us?
That was the early stage.
Then something changed.
We stopped asking, “How do we look?” And started asking, “Why do we exist?”
That was purpose.
June Software started with enterprise tech.
Then trivia apps — Guess the Movie. Think.
- In 2010 we built TapToLearn — educational games on iOS.
- In 2012 we moved to Unity. We built our first game as Tiny Run.
- That evolved into NinJump Dash which was a top 10 game worldwide
- We learned free-to-play. We learned multiplayer.
In 2015 we started building a shooter called MaskGun.
It soft launched in 2017. Launched globally in 2019.
And somewhere in that journey, we changed our name from June Software to June Gaming.
Then to SuperGaming.
Because we weren’t building projects anymore.
We were building IP. We were building engines. We were building systems.
- In 2021 we raised our Series A to pursue Indus.
- In 2025 we raised our Series B and launched Indus.
- In 2026 we are taking Indus global — starting with Brazil, expanding into LatAm and MENA.
- And this year we are publishing our first Roblox experiences — GunJutsu and Steal a FlappyBird.
But none of those are our greatest milestone.
Our greatest milestone… Is YOU.
It’s Navneet Waraich who has been on this journey for 20 years.
Sachin Bansode. Sachin Kudale who have also been with me for the last 18 years.
It’s Sreejit building our first iPhone game and being here for 17 years.
Christelle becoming our first female engineer and shipping hundreds of apps and games for the past 15 years
Prathamesh — our first QA hire here since 2012.
Ganguli shipping art year after year.
Sujeet leading Indus since 2020.
Bharat. Saurabh.
And so many others.
And even those who left — Avinash, Saurabh, Gaurang, Jwalant, Peter Rocque, Ankush, Akshay, the MaskGun team, Sandesh running QA alone — they all built this place.
- We are not just a company. We are a university.
- And we will have great alumni.
If there is one thing we proved over 20 years, it’s this:
- It is possible to build original global gaming IP from India.
- It is possible to build engines here.
- It is possible to build careers here.
Today is Shivaji Jayanti (I never realized it atleast for the last 20 years) .
Yesterday they told me that it is Dry Day today because of Shivaji Jayanti. That's when I realized that the day embodies what Shivaji also fought for - Swarajya.
Swarajya is self-empowerment. Swarajya as team empowerment.
And ultimately being defined by systems.
For the Journey
- In the early days — insanity.
- Then defined by perception.
- Then defined by purpose.
Today?
We must be defined by systems.
- Systems that allow teams to run product.
- Systems for live ops.
- Systems for hiring and growth.
- Systems for tooling.
- Systems for truth.
What has not changed - Our principles as embodied by all the people that worked here and lived these principles.
- Give it one more chance.
- Care genuinely.
- Don’t be afraid to ask and tell the truth.
- Take extreme ownership.
- Help others grow.
- Have a bias to shipping.
But today I’ll also talk about what makes us forget these principles - FEAR
There are real fears.
- The market.
- Competition.
- AI disruption.
- Funding crunch.
I’ll try and remind you of this lesson
- Fear is a reaction.
- Courage is a choice.
- Courage is a decision.
I wrote this 15 years ago
Every day we should ask ourselves: What would we do if we were not afraid?
I’ll come back to my principle for everything
ALL IN ! Commit like you will succeed or die trying.
Not recklessly.
- But with discipline.
- With consistency.
- With systems.
- Because courage without discipline is noise.
- Courage with discipline builds institutions.
Where do we go from here
We have always been early.
- iOS.
- Android.
- Multiplayer.
- Shooters.
Now the next wave is AI and user-generated content.
Roblox is not just a platform.
- It is an engine shift.
- AI is not just a tool.
- It is a force multiplier.
- AI in code. AI in art.
- AI in QA. AI in gameplay.
- AI as our operating system.
Not to replace us. But to make us better.
And here is the ambition:
- We are going after 100 million dollars in revenue.
- Not for ego.
- But because building something at that scale proves what is possible from here.
- It proves our systems work. It proves our people are world class.
- It proves Swarajya works.
And when fear shows up — because it will — remember Charlie.
- He didn’t care about valuations.
- He didn’t care about competition.
- He just waited at the door.
- Consistent.
- Loyal.
- Present and happy that you are here !
Twenty years ago we fixed glass with bleeding hands so that this house could stand.
Today we have build a AA shooter from scratch that launches globally.
Twenty years from now, what will we build?
- Let’s build it with courage.
- Let’s build it with systems.
- Let’s build it together.
And let’s be the kind of company…
That our dog would be proud of.
Thank you.
