Transference — My Dream

TRANSFERENCE
A New Life – From There to Here and Beyond
The Journey Continues

"There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a sea we are now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures!

- William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

The common part of a Storm is the coming Home Salesman, secretaries, jesters, sword swallowers, programmers are all trying to come home All the restless hearts of the world are trying to find a way home

Its alright to describe what I feel like right now
Picture yourself walking for days in the driving snow
You could be going round and round
without realizing that your going around in circles,
The heaviness of your legs and the drift,
your shouts disappear into the endless woods
How small you can feel,
How far away home can be now

Home - The dictionary defines it as both a place of origin as well as goal or destination.

And The Storm The Storm was all in my head, As the poet Dante describes it “In the middle of the journey of Life I found myself in the dark wood for I had lost the right path.’

I found the right path in the most unlikely of places – Denver.

(In the original, two resignation letters sit here — mine and my friend Mahendra's — both dated 1 February 2001.)

The path that I speak of is triggered off my our resignation letter to Cognizant Technology Solutions, our most cherished first job. The place where we built all dreams and aspirations for a future life and beyond. I guess the time has come to realize these dreams. We are going to create what we always dreamt of , a place of our own, our own space for all the creative ideas that flow out, where every intrinsic idea is given its full attention and thinking that it truly deserves, where employees are more than numbers on a roll call, We want not only to ride the wave of success on the InfoTech ocean but also clinch an opportunity to drive it. We would know that we are about to play the move of our careers and play the gamble of our careers today instead of playing it safe, we will fall and tumble but after that will we be able to walk by ourselves, whether or not we will survive this growing up still remains to be seen by the sands of time.

I Hope while we make this decision there is no pride in us, for we certainly are in irrepressible pain as we make this separation from the place that we got emotionally attached to and would always be for all the golden moments spent here. I feel I recognize fully my weakness. But my faith in God and His strength and love is unshakable. I am like clay in the Potter's hands. I shall continue to confess blunders each time I commit them. The only tyrant I accept in this world is the 'still small voice' within me. And even though I have to face the prospect of a minority of one, I humbly believe I have the courage to be in such a hopeless minority, as I take this step.

One day we will be successful for we are irrepressible optimists, because we believe in ourselves and our dreams and the effort that we will put to realize them. That sounds very arrogant, doesn't it? But we say it from the depths of our humility

If devotion to one's own dreams amounts to a sin, we admit we have committed that sin. If it is meritorious, we humbly claim the merit thereof, for now we have only this dream put in the following words

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high Where knowledge is free Where the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic walls Where words come out from the depth of truth Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit Where the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and action Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,

let the Company that I am to create awake”

abridged from Rabindranath Tagore's Geetanjali.

Let's make something

Find me at the SPC office in Bengaluru, usually Wednesdays. Coffee, a walk, hacking user acquisition — all yes.
